Hon Richard Prebble CBE
Chairman
BA LLB(Hons)
Richard is a best selling author and former Member of Parliament including experience as an Associate Minister of Finance and Minister of State Owned Enterprises. By profession Richard is a Barrister and Solicitor. His experience in national and international business adds a formidable level of expertise to Stellaris. Richard is a director of several companies including WEL and Mainfreight Ltd.

Shirley Baker
Director

Shirley comes to Stellaris with a background as a Financial Controller in a range of industries and businesses within the public, private and not for profit sectors

Her career spans financial, commercial and business consulting and large-scale organisational system change design, coordination, implementation and evaluation. 

Current and previous Governance roles include leisure organisations: Tauranga City Aquatics Limited (TCAL), Netball Bay of Plenty (Board Chair), Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic Franchise, Mount Ocean Sports Club as well as a number of engineering firms.

Frances Denz
Executive Director
NZ Dip Bus, Cert Economic Development (Ball State University)

Frances has been instrumental in establishing more than 4000 businesses since 1986. She is an authority on business start-ups and regional economic development and is a keynote speaker at conferences internationally. Frances is the co-founder of Stellaris Ltd and specialises in the small business and government sectors.

As a Maori woman of Ngati Tuwharetoa and Tainui descent, Frances has worked with many Maori organisations to establish expertise in self-employment. Frances has special interests in the health and horticulture industries.

Frances is the author of Hope and Rehabilitation, Able to do Business and Women at the Top. She is passionate about encouraging small businesses to establish good governance and management in order to develop into very successful businesses.

Ron Scott
Managing Director

Ron has 20 years experience in the education sector. He is a former member of the University of Waikato Council and managed two tertiary organisations prior to establishing Stellaris Ltd.

Ron has commercial industrial management experience so backs up his academic skills with real world expertise. He has solid sales experience in the financial, business to business and direct to consumer sectors.

In addition to working in some of New Zealand’s largest companies as a business, sales and management consultant and trainer, Ron is skilled in Adult Education including workplace assessment and learning techniques. Ron is a registered assessor with ESITO and is contracted to do moderation for NZQA.

He is a trustee of the Tauranga Energy Consumers Trust (TECT) and a member of the Bay of Plenty District Health Board. He chairs the Community and Public Health Advisory Committee and the  Disability Services Advisory Committee.

Senior Trainer

Carol has recently sold her gallery “The Art Boutique”. After 5 years of successful trading she felt ready for a change and has joined the Stellaris Team. Carol has had a very successful career.
The highlights include:
  • Taking sales in a major clothing retailer from $0 - $26 Million in five years
  • Managed 500 staff and while doing so developed a fashion design business taking sales from $0 to $3 Million in the first year.
  • Liaised between Paris designers and Indian manufacturers.
  • As a hotel owner increased profit by 65% in the first twelve months.
Grant Toomer
Senior Trainer

Grant has more than 35 years experience achieving outstanding results in sales. As Manager for Fuji Xerox in the Bay of Plenty he trained some of the most successful salespeople in New Zealand.
Grant runs programmes in all aspects of sales, customer service and territory and account management.

In addition to the workshops that Grant runs throughout the North Island he is available for mentoring individuals or small groups.
George Spiers
Consultant

For more than 40 years George has been providing Agricultural, Horticultural, Business, Trade & Marketing expertise to clients around the world including Australia, Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
George has expert knowledge of the Free Trade agreement with China. George spends considerable time maintaining relationships in various overseas markets.
George is available for individual mentoring only.
